i have rk sport motor mounts. am i the only one who's dipstick rattles like crazy?

Nope. I had the same problem on my turbo cavy, with the inserts, and even my stocker with stock inserts. I solved the problem by wrapping electrical tape around the rim of the tube just thick enough to make a tight fit for the cap. On my turbo motor it kept oil from spraying out the top of the tube, too when it drained back form the turbo.

but it's the metal part of the dipstick...before my motor mounts it'll rattle and then i'd twist the cap until it stops. but too tight would make the stick hit the tube. now u cant turn to make it stop it just rattles

ya the dipstick thing FREAKED ME OUT when I just went turbo
the day after I went turbo my exhaust gasket blew out from the dp connection ... I replaced it ... turned the car on and boom Rattling... I walked out to listen ... came from right near the turbo ... I was like OH NO ...
....................
then I grabbed the dipstick .....
want to know an EASY fix ......
take the dip stick out leave it in the back ......... just connect it when you want to check for oil ................ I rarely check my oil .... I do oil change every 2 weeks in the summer............

I don't have the rattle problem in my stocker. It doesn't have the inserts, but I noticed it when I had my car running and it was coming from under the hood. Opened the hood, and the cap was sitting there spinning around on the top of the tube. So I taped the tube to make the cap fit tight and I just did it to the turbo motor too while I was at it.

Must be a 2.2OHV thing? Ive got both mounts, and one Tranny mount (need better weather for the other), and my dipstick doesnt rattle one bit. Ive got a Sunfire GT with a 2.4 though.
The OHV has the crappy kind on old ass v-8s. Its got a plastic cap that screws on like a quarter turn onto a big metal tube and it doesn't fit like it should. None of them do I don't think.

yeah i'm going to put a cap on. i dont want oil to splatter under the hood. that'll be stupid to not have a cap. before my motor mounts it'll rattle and then i'd turn it a bit and it'll stop. if i turn it too tight then it hits the tube. it had to be turned just so, so it wouldnt rattle...then it'd rattle again and i'd have to turn it so it stops again. i hate the 2.2 OHV

i just took a pair of slip joint pliers and crushed the tube in a bit where the bumps for the cap r . worked like a charm
