I was looking at a new filter for my 04 ecotec. Does anyone know of a K&N cone filter that will fit the end of the factory intake tube. It looks like it is around 4.5" X 3", and oval. You would have to remove the filter housing box, and make a mount for the filter end. I tried a search, and the FAQ, but didn't find an answer. I also saw that K&N had a bunch of universal filters, but I couldn't find the exact size.
Thanks
Check at pepboys or somthing...it migh tbe hard to get an oval one.
Your better off just ordering an intake, thier cheap and simple to install.
If you want one i know a guy personally who sells them, he'll help ya out with it. Awsome prices. Intakes

A filter over the stock intake tube isn't going to do anything but make a little noise, Just buy an intake. The weapon r is like 100 bux.

Im a Xbox 360 fanboy...and damn proud of it!!
Thanks for the posts. What is the Civic intake you speak of? Also I looked around. Where can you get a Weapon R intake for around $100.00.
Thanks

I disagree. A larger filter surface area with less restriction will yeild more power. I think the gain from using an intake would be marginal compared to upgrading just the filter(maybe 1-2hp).

Thats what I thought looking at the "s" intake tube. It looks just like the aftermarket ones except with the air filter box, and "bong" on the end.
Then again if I could get a setup for $100.00 with a good filter I'd probably get that. All the quality setups I have seen are closer to $200.00.
I put a cone filter on my stock intake tube. From what i hear its pointless to but a $5978549 intake tube when you can but a cheap one for nothing that does the same thing. I had to put a piece of 3in stainless steel pipe in the end of my intake tube and then made a custom mount to hold that piece stable. But the steel is welded to a bracket that bolts to the frame of my car.
Ah a pointless mod. That's all I have to say.
I was a retard, and now I'm permanently banned.
From my experience, any Air Cleaner changes to a stock motor doesn't really add much power. I am more in the mood to tinker than anything. If I pick up any power or gas mileage then that is a bonus.
Hey Vince, what filter and part number did you use on your car?
replace the whole thing.
After installing the CAI (second hand from my bro = free
I have a big black trashbag FULL of the stock parts, compared to the 3 parts of the AEM system. And I'd wager a good 5-10lbs in weight savings.
The stock system is extremely restrictive and has horrible flow, anything is better than the stock one. I couldn't believe the stuff the air had to go thru just to get into my engine.
