hey everyone i just got a 2.3 HO throttle body and i wanna put it on my 2200. i asked this before but the name of the thread mighta not made sence. i was just wondering if this hrottle body is a direc bolt on ? and moifications i need to make to the throttlebody ? vacuum hoses and all are a direct fit onto the throttlebody ? i just need to know this before i try to do it and find out i can't for some reason any help is greatly appreciated . i have a 2001 pontiac sunfire.
worked on mine direct bolton...got a CEL for high idle though. So i deal with the light but top end performance is better.
How can you tone down the idle? Is their a screw or something that controls it?
I'll have a sig someday....................
i'm not worried bout the high idle .. is that the only thing different with theat throttlebody? is there anything else you had to do to make it work with the 2200 rengine??
worked fine for me...no high idle, no CEL. you will have to use a vacuum tee to hook up all the vacuum lines.

u sure you have the HO 2.3 TB? The HO tends to give high idle...look on your TB (since it's not installed yet) and look for an adjustable star screw under where the black lever is that pulls up when you press the gas.
i thought the 2.3 ho and regular 2.3 tb where the same....both 56mm
both 56mm...but differences i believe
Now im interested. Mine s a 2.3 HO so lets hear it.

i dunno what they are, just heard someone say they had problems with the HO and not the other one
I ahd RPm unexpectedly to high with mine, I also trhough a throttle postion code but that wass due to a bad TPS on the TB. T fittings for the vaccum lines .
(Insert really cool picture of my car with some catchy name or slogan here)
wouldn't a tee fitting on the vacuum cause less vacuum? does anyone have any pictures or anything of this to help me out... the throttle bopdy i have from the 2.3 has 3 vacum line.. and 2 senser ports. one vacuum is a large one on the top and the other 2 on the back side faceing down almost. any pictures i can see . if so thank u soo much .
the large one on top goes to the black hose(dunno what it's called) that attaches to the stock throttle body...2 sensors...and 3 more vaccuum lines. The 2 that u have facing down...one of those needs to have the T fitting
ok i just took off my old throttlebody and TRYED to fit the new on on . bolts up excact but the stock throttlebody has 4 bolts hoding it on the 2.3 has 2 . so i will bolt those to and i have to go buy a screw so i can bolt that black peice where the throttle cable is . then i have to grind that ball on the end of the throttlebody down to fit it in the holder for it on the throttlebody . then the T fitting . so all in all it was pretty cool ... i need 1 scew a tee fitting and alittle peice of hoe .. and grind that ball down alittle and it will be on . i put my stock one back on cause i can't go by any of that tonight . well i have one question . would it be safe to bolt he throttlebody on with just those 2 bolts? they onlyhave 2 in the 2.3 throttlebody? thanks
you only use 2 bolts for it. umm i didn't grind down the ball...just maneuvered it so it's tight and won't come loose...the ball isn't inside...its on the outside with the wire on the inside(hard to explain)...i dunno if other people have done that or not but it's what i did
well i went buy the extra hose and the screw just now . i still need to go buy a T fitting though . i guess a petstore for the T fitting huh? i know they have them that small for fishtanks and stuff. would a plastic t fitting be ok ? the hardware store didn't have any the smalles T they had was 1/4 inch . and the rest were straight . not T's... i will take some pictures and post them on here and make a do it your self on it . incase anyone else has quiestions. yeah i know how u hooked the ball on the cable up thats how i had it too i just wasn't sure if it would stay or not . how s it coming along for you ? well i will get the T fitting tommorow and do the swap and take the pictures and post them on here and explain how to do it . thanks for all the help Grillrd. i appreciate everything.
my plastic vacuum tee came from autozone
yes, please get an easy write up on this, cuz i want to do this ASAP
nice post, keep it up
how much the 2.3 TB cost you ?
it cost me 65 plus shipping ... i will get the do it your self post up tommorow . thanks for all the complements.
just out of curiousity, was there a reason you didn't just change the rotors over?
i'm guss your talkin bout twhere the throttlecable goes . on the 2.3 tb theres no nut . i have no idea how they got it on . i'm about to start the post on how to do it . i got it on and everything but it idles crzy . i mean when i started it it idled at bout 1000 rpm then it went down to around 6 700. then when i steped on the gas it idled at bout 2000 rpms . then went down to bout 1500. then i stepped on the gas again and it bounced back and fourth fdrom bout 900 to 1500 rpms ... i don't know whats up witjh it . but i went for alittle test drive and i can feel a difference. revs much quicker in the mid upper rpms. from about 2300 to redline to switch gears it just pulls hard. any ideas why it idles crazy?
take your negative off your battery, someone in another post did that cuz his kept idling, and he said that worked and everything is fine now, so try that, but we want that how to!
so take the negative off for bout 30 min and then put it back on a restetting everythingwill work ? lol simple . ok thanks and i am as we speak
