So, I'm currently looking at my options.
I plan on getting: Pacesetter header, high flow cat, 25" resonator, and a super turbo muffler, all in 2.25" piping.
I currently have: Stock everything except a normal super turbo muffler.
I like the sound i currently get from my muffler, and I'd like to have it sound the same after the header and new piping, but i know that its most likely going to be louder.
So, the question for you who have experienced this, will the 25" resonator quiet it back down to normal levels, or will it not be enough? In this case, would it be better to get the same super turbo muffler, just the longer version? (there's a normal version, and there's an extra long version).
Then again, I'm curious to know if the extra long version could possibly create a louder interior resonance? (has any experienced this?)
I'd like to know your opinions

i have a pacesetter header, high flow cat, and catback exhaust, and its decently loud sounding when i drive it normal, but when i floor it or downshift and bring the rpms up pretty high it gets really loud, im always in the car so i didnt think it was that bad but i had my friend drive by the other day and the car was screaming loud. my neighbors must hate me leaving for work at 5:15 in the morning
The resonator will calm down the sound. The exhaust shouldn't get THAT much louder with a bigger header. You'll probably notice that it is louder in the front of your car though and you'll hear your motor better.

When I installed my header, I actually used a dB meter to monitor the increase in sound levels. The header only increased the sound on my car by 9.xx dB, so its not much of a difference.
^ header with new piping, or on stock piping?

Thats header with stock converter, new piping, 26" Magnapack, and 18x5x8 Magnaflow oval muffler with tip. But I had the entire exhaust system already on my car before I installed the header. The header just increased the sound level a little more than it already was.

Every 3 dB's is twice as loud to the human ear.

sorry to jack the post for a bit, but whats the diameter of the stock piping after the cat? 2" to the muffler end? im planning on installing a 4-1 header with a hi-flo cat keeping the stock catback, any severe restrictions on gas leaving? thanks in advance

Stock piping diameter is 2 inches.
If you put on a bigger header & catalytic converter but leaving your stock catback, you will basically still have a 2" exhaust system. Remember, the smallest part of your exhaust system is what the real size of your exhaust. That extra airflow will get slowed down by your stock cat-back system....so that will be your restriction.

hmmm ic, will i guess for now that'll have to do, i'll have to find an exhaust shop and get a custom catback made and have them weld on a resonator and muffler

Sounds like a plan

sounds like my car pacesetter header, magnaflow cat, 2.25 pipe back to a straight thru muffler. very loud i must say and i like the attention i get from people looking at me. Im looking into a resonator cause i dont like the looks cops give me plus its raspy as hell

I have the arospeed (Same design as the RKsport design), and a Thermal research cat-back 2.25"
Stock cat.
I like how it sounds!!! It isn't really any louder than what it was with just the exhaust. It's actually less raspy, so it actually makes the engine sound meatier.

I'm running the Pacesetter header with 2 1/2 pipe, a high flow cat, 18 inch resonator,
"Y" pipe and two "turbo" style mufflers with duel tips. The cars not too loud at all, a little raspy but too ricey.
Semper Fi SAINT. May you rest in peace.
The resonator will lower the high pitch raspyness (bee sound) and the outside tone will be lower with it a little more resonance in the cabin.
The longer the resonator is, the better it is to remove raspyness, resonance will be the same in either length.
In my case the resonace was intolerable when I used ST, so I went back to the stock mufflers.
