ok ive been looking into this and rather than building my 2200 ive noticed id get more promising results if i swapped in a 2.4 and then built up. ive done my research so someone remind me.... exactly what do i need to complete this swap.
my 99 is a manual tranny so will my transmission work or will i have to use the one out of a 2.4 . also i heard i need to get a donor car that is pre 2000. cause the ecu or something changed. so i guess im lookin for a guide on how to do this. so please guys and gals and thanks also for all your help.

i believe they use the same transmission. The motor you swap must be pre-00 as the transmissions are for sure different as well as wiring. You just need the motor, PCM, and the harness that goes from the PCM to the box on the firewall, the rest of the engine harness is the same.

sorry phlat but i cant seem to figure out which i want to do. i just cant see why or how i can possibly make my 2200 as fast as a z24 without using alot of cash. and a swap seems to be the cheapest thing right now. im sorry i plan things
