I had a 4x14 round Magnaflow at one time, and it was a little loud but sounded hella mean. Wasn't very throaty though.

I had a race series Magnaflow muffler on my 2001 Eclipse, and it sounds pretty bad ass. I highly recommend it. No rasp! Just make sure you get a decent resonator because those help with alleviating raspiness and annoying popping.

It's high pitched because you have no catalytic converter. If you put a magnaflow high-flow one on there it will sound much better.

So if I put an oval magnaflow muffler with a high flow cat it will sound good?
What if I put the muffler on with the stock cat? will it sound just as good?

Well if you're going to upgrade your piping, it will make it louder so to control that loudness, having your cat on and adding a resonator to tone and deepen it will help alot as well as a good muffler.

Joe... Do yourself a favor and don't just add only a muffler and cat. You may want to get a full exhaust setup. You'll be much happier with the added pep you get with the sound.
A muffler pretty much adds sound if installed with your stock exhaust piping, albeit it DOES improves flow marginally.

I dont really car about the power as much as i do the sound.

I just want something that sounds kind of throaty.

sound is relative... just cause one says "it sounds good on my car" doesnt mean it will on yours...

you can take their exhaust and simply put it on your car and have a totally different sound. as it stands adam has a bit of work done, compared to most beginners here.

resonators tune the sound of the exhaust... mufflers alone should not be the only determinant in your sound, so dont use em as such.....

other factors are pipe size, resonator size and quality (preferably perforated core)

power is gonna be small. gotta be realistic here as many arent guessing around thinking they will get 20 hp from an exhaust... cat backs at that arent even full exhausts and are REALLY SMALL pieces of the puzzle.

i;d def suggest before you go out and buy, take 5 minutes to read this article... http://www.magnaflow.com/05news/magazine/05sportc.asp

theres so many new people who DONT read it and end up posting again days later about how this sounds bad, and that didnt fit, and so and so at the shop said...

all of it can be avoided by simply self educating yourself with research

g'luck
