New Exhaust(Question about sound)

Hello. I just had a new exhaust installed on my '96 2.4L Sunfire. I installed a Magnaflow 2 1/4" catalytic converter with 2 1/4" piping back to my Magnaflow Muffler. I'm not sure exacly what muffler it is since it was on the car when I bought it, but it is round, straighthrough with a 4" tip. Now, I am very happy with the way my exhaust sounds after the installation. It has a lower tone than with just the muffler, and driving around with it for a day it sounds great. That is, except when I accelerate too quickly or get up in rpms. Sometimes when I do this my muffler makes this wierd noise... the only way I can describe it is like a "tear". I was just wondering if anyone knew why it does this... and if the problem is with my muffler or something else. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks alot.

i have a 97 cavi 2.4 with the same setup except I have a Ractive muffler. I just had it installed and it is great except when you get on the gas. It sounds like a weedeater. I was told to get a 20+ inch resonator and that would fix it.

hugs and hand pounds, peace

the longer the resonator, the quieter and the deeper. about a 16 to 20 inch resonator will make your exhaust very deep, quiet, and no bumble bees / buzzing / rice or whatever you wanna call it.

Yea, I guess it is like a weedwacker. Any suggestion on what type of resonator?
