Ok i had a guy bore out his intake manifold on his ecotec. He said it only took him about an hour. Has anyone else done this? and if so is it worth the time to do it?
Thanks
isnt the intake manifold plastic?
yeah he said he used a dremel and if your not careful it would melt the plastic.
I still have a brand new 05 ecotec manifold for sale for 56 bucks shipped if anyone is interested. Posted in classfieds a few days ago.
you can only bore out what you can reach, and most dremels cant reach all up inside it.

thats understandable. he said that there was a noticeable gain i was just wondering if it was a fib or can you really tell and if so i think i will try it
I would be careful doing something like that myself.... ya never know what is going to happen.... remember where the stuff goes from there..... probably would be good to get to much plastic into the head.... I highly doubt he could have gotten that much gain from it.... I could be wrong.... I mean making the openings bigger might help but then agian im a noob so.... I just dont know if i would want any plastic going into the head or any chips off of the dremel bit of choice.....
We are yet to see any dyno results so who knows. We need before/after tests. If I could find a dyno around me I would do it. The thing is you really need to do it the same day, run it a couple times, swap manifolds, then run again to get a accurate test.

its questionable. the runners still flow the same amount of air, but from what was said, there is supposed to be a lip. prob there to increase velocity as most said what they felt was 3000rpm and above, which would explain the loss of low end power.
thing is though, when you modify something, you usually are doing a give and take.... giving away low end and gaining top end in many cases is the deal.
not saying this is, but with restrictions and opening restrictions with stock parts, thats usually the deal, but once again not saying this is the deal with this mod.
black eco has it down on what to do... someone was talkin about they had access to a free dyno a while back, friends owned it, but the post died down somewhere.
