anyone know...I'm considering the HO motor swap, (not manifold, whole motor) but was curious if my stock tranny would work until I can get around to maybe swapping to 5 speed
yeah it will bolt up , the 2.4 bolts up to the 2.3 5spd
just use the 2.3 LO flex plate

You'll have to use the 98 ecm and harness because you won't be able to use the 4 speed otherwise.

will the 98 ecm even run the HO? Sounds like I need to pick up an NVG550 as well...
it wont run the motor to its full potentual
plus the check engine light will be on from the lack of cam sensor
A check engine is not the end of life. It will run the engine but you'll have a rev limiter pretty close to the Ho peak power.
You would have to work with the Egr too since the Ho doesn't have one.

i think itll not be happy (especially at idle and have a just off idle lag) but it should run. the computer will switch back to the old style fuel setup since it wont find the cam jobby. also you will have a cel due to several things. and like they said it definately wont be optimal. talk to JBP about their reflash as they may be able to fix that for you with minimal work on your part.
