i have a 98 cav witha rob nocking and about 1000 to put in it. should i get a new engine, or just rebuild the old one. i would like to get more horse then what i had its just a stock 2.2L. i might have a bit more to spend but will depend on if i can get a loan. and if some one is in KY that would like to help me work on it drop me an email. i would like to start on it any time after the 20 june, and look to have it finshed by 1 july. and whats a good site to get new parts or engines
either way that motor is coming out, and you've got internals to replace and machine work to do. i suppose you'd have to take a look at the block and make sure you it's ok.

uh no, that's the Ecotec. That's not a direct swap. It can be done, but it's a pain. There are several write-ups on this site.
98-02 = 2200 OHV LN2
02-05 = 2.2 DOHC Ecotec

depends on what you want. i can't tell you what to do. i think you should swap in a 98 ld9 (2.4 twin cam) it's a direct swap, wiring matches up, etc. you just need the LD9 PCM.

The LD9 has allot more potential, but you will also need the tranny. The LD9(2.4L) and the LN2(2.2L) have different bolt patterns on the tranny/bellhousing.
