What is your take on intakes.
I have a 2.2l ecotec and want to get one.
I was looking at the weapon-R secret weapon, any reviews on it??
It has a foam filter rather then a cotton gauze.
Wouldn't that break apart easier??
I was also looking at K&N and AEM they are about the same as eachother and the dragon from weapon R.
I was just wondering if the secret weapon is all it says to be.

almost all intakes are the same. just a pipe with a filter, you can make one just as good as K&N or AEM or Weapon-R.
Thats what I figured but the secret weapon costs almost twice as much as the other ones
It has an inner tube that is supposed to increase velocity,
I was wondering if anyone got it and noticed maybe there is a different sound or something

i just wanna know with all these intakes that do this and that, where are all the amazing times and slips, that once and for all prove, in a real world test that the intake is allegedly better than all others....
from looking through registries, no one has yet come through with an intake making their car any faster than others with the same intakes.
granted all cars run different, by now someone should have a magical intake that can be passed around from car to car and share the magic.
until that happens, i agree with volumeking.

i also agree with Volumeking. intakes are all the same. no difference in the $200 AEM or Injen intakes to the cheap $40 intakes you see on Ebay
Im a Xbox 360 fanboy...and damn proud of it!!
I have a E-bay intake and it works fine for me.

LoL my quote thing did work
I was saying that the secret weapon could be that magic stick where by the innner tube if it actually does increase the velocity of the air comming in.

doubt it.
for starters magic isnt really magic, its in illusion.
its been out for some time now, and plenty of people have it. some claim to feel more punch downlow, but still, track times are similar.
so it increases velocity... however with the stuff inside an intake, lessens the amount of potential CFM it could flow at WOT. which is still part of the reasons race teams still run reg pipes.
"There are four main concepts to intake airflow that are vital in tuning—air volume, air density, air velocity, and air viscosity. You want to maximize the first three, and minimize the last."
the trick to a "perfect" intake is to max the first three.... if you make something that increases velocity, but its inside the pipe, you actually take away from volume due to the stuff inside the pipe. you have a intake thats great for autox or down low, but can limit the top end.
aem came out with the V2, weapon R with the "secret weapon", go down the list and you will see every company has their "sooper dooper" design.
decent, but as i read any add from them or their website, both still claim
"outperforms
any other intake" which clearly the
flag should go off. everyone cant run the same slogan, cause if true, theres about 20 companies out there lying and only one tellin the truth.
intakes are part of the reason we only have a handfull of decently fast cars. people spend so much on one piece, they dont have any money to do anything else. and after the intake, they arent much faster than the rest of the masses with all kinds of intakes (self made, overpriced, ebay or otherwise).
11 intakes down the road, i;ve seen different dyno numbers 2 cars dyno completely opposite ends of the power level 2hp vs 9 hp gain with the same type of cars, yet different , with the same parts, and brand new cars at that.
but you gotta spend how you wanna. thats just my view on it.
Thats a picture of the Weapon-R Secret intake , it screams from 4500 to redline , IMO best intake ive had, ide recommend it.
Good luck ...
best bet would be to check out
here, since your posts ask some of these very things.
and good luck with your car.
Like said before, there is some technology in the secret weapon intake system, mostly in the piping. I can't remember but ask Bryan Festa aka Encriptor and he will answer it for you. His screen name is "Definedparts".
