I would think that you would only need it if you were using a lot of boost. It seems pretty big. But a highly moded n/a, im not sure. Im guessing you mean head work, cams, and high compression, ect. I would like to know if it would be better then the common 62mm tb (with the stuff i meantioned). I know that 75mm will slow down the air velocity, so you might loose a lot of torque. But i would like to know since i want to go all motor now.
dude dont buy that. lol, the throttle body and the intake cost as much as a turbo kit. lol.. well maybe close
The only purpose that serves is if you are running a bunch of boost off a turbo like how the GM drag cars are. The only way to fit that on is to move the radiator forward. That's a waste of your money and no way you need it, unless your a pure drag car. Do more reasearch about the ECOTEC and how too big of an Throttle Body can be a bad thing.
If you are a heavily modified N/A ECOTEC, you should look the Venom intake manifold (It should be out by now but a bit expensive), there really is no other company that makes an intake manifold for the ECOTEC except Twistec but that is a log style manifold which is really only suggested for a Turbo car.
If you need a Throttle Body on the other hand, check out
High Rev Motorsports, they sell a 62 MM ECOTEC Throttle Body from RSM Racing.
Good Luck with your search...

Move the radiator forward and CUT THE RADIATOR SUPPORT!!!
There goes the unibody integrity.
The whole front end is going to collapse.

Alright. I wasn't thinking that it was to practical. Wanted to ask just to see. Thanks

Its still not in their catalogue on their website, so it's probably still a custom order, which means its over a grand. I'll buy it once its priced the same as the 2.4 IM.
I think I'll e-mail them about it. It has been on their site for a while now...

By time it comes out to the 2.4 price I probably won't need it...going for GM charger

sweet. I'll need it though, I'm going all motor. @!#$ boost.
Yeah the venom manifold is done. Takes about a week to make. And costs (from me) a little under $1100. Direct bolt in and colored.

Do you have any numbers on it? Is it good for low end, top end, or a good combination? I'm really interested in an intake manifold. And it looks like that is the only good n/a one out there.

What about a group purchase to get that cost down a bit? $1100, is just way too unpractical for the gains you'd get.
sad to and hate to say it, but thats exactly why these cars have never gotten parts like other cars over the years.
the gains you get from a part, intake manifold in particular, will have gains in the part itself, however those gains multiply with the more pieces you add to the puzzle, aka other parts.
1100$ is pretty practical, being that many other cars, import and domestic cost sometimes near double.
as parts are demanded, supply price will go down, cause the seller finds a market to where they can move the parts they make. but when you have 3-10 parts sold in a year. the prices remain high.
while group purchases are good, many of them fall through with high priced items, cause no one steps forward with the cash, after the supplier produces parts. this usually turns manufacturers from making stuff in the future. dead end market. kinda like the KW coilovers.
i say g;luck, but if you do try to organize a GP, make sure you have decent people sign up, and not just people who "want to see it made" and never have no intention of buying. more or less realistic people who do what they say, and pay when its time to get.
g'luck

Im with event on this one. Most fo the people on this site have ecash. They play it off liek they have the money till its tiem to fork it out. There are a few here that have the moneya nd will actually fork out the money for quality parts. You can tell those people by there cars and the parts on them.

for 1100 you can buy a friggin welder and make your own.
CAR GODS MADE THE 1.6 SOHC TO MAKE US 2.2 OHV GUYS FEEL BETTER.
1100 does seem high, but i might have to buy it. If it was under $1000, priced like the 2.4l, i bet a lot more people would buy it.
Has anyone bought it?
It's a lot more complicated than the 2.4L
Bends are more difficult to make.
Manifold mounted map sensor.
Various ports and gskt groove.

So is it the perfect IM for a n/a ecotec? How much r&d went into it?
crackajax wrote:So is it the perfect IM for a n/a ecotec? How much r&d went into it?
Yes, it's really the only manifold available that is good for a natural aspirated ecotec motor...so yeah your gonna have to spend some big cash on that bad boy.
There are no real dyno #s on it yet (atleast that they advertise).

you can buy someone a computer controlled welding machine.... doesnt mean they know the first thing about making a manifold flow right.
replicating a product and producing a product that functions better than what the stock R&D does, are two TOTALLY different things.
Yeah there is a lot more to throwing some pipe together and calling it an intake . You have to figure how big of a plenum you need and the length and diameter of the runners .
As for the 75mm T/B being to big and only for a boosted Ecotec . Karo is running a 75mm LS1 T/B on his N/A drag car . He seems to be doing pretty good with it to . You figure if you can get a Ecotec or 2.4 to flow around 480 CFM then the T/B will be good to have . I put one on mine because later on it will be flowing that much .
