broken motor mount?

what does a broken motor mount feel like? i was slowly backing out of my girlfriends driveway tonight and as i was out in the street i put it into drive and the whole car shook, my girlfriend thought that i hit something, but i knew it was something wrong with the engine or the tranny, everytime the car would change gear it would be really harsh and hard. sitting in neutral and putting it into drive caused a huge jerk in the engine...also my ets light came on and my check engine light... any help would be great

If the Trac Off light and ETS light are on, then it sounds more like a sensor issue.

no trac off light, but if a sensor is to blame would it make it shift really hard, it felt almost as if i had an autotrans interceptor, i put on a cold air intake today, what should i check for, and would a sensor issue cause the motor to move all over the place, thank ya

just look under your car from the passenger side and look at the mount to see if it is broken. to check the upper mount get a flashlight and look for any cracks. As for the warning lights, stop by a local dealership or parts store and have them run a diagnostic.

i had the same exact proplem i know what it is- u did not connect your iat (intake air temperature) sensor that is supposed to be in the intake tubing. ya one day i was putting in the main power for my amp and i removed the tubing and the sensor so i could do it easier and i put the tubing on when i was done but i forgot to connect the sensor and tried to drive it. it shifted supper hard and all the lights came on like u said, so i disconnected the battery and reconected the sensor and then reconnected the batery 30 min. later. it still had the problem. so i drove my car home with it like that and it stoped doing it when i got home and i havent had a problem with it since, so dont let ur dealer try to rip u off

i did attach it, but i dont know how well i did. right after i put the intake on i ran up to my girls house and nothing happened, loved the new intake, then like 30min later pulling out of her driveway it got all messed up. would the sensor not being in all the way really cause all that trouble with the car? and yah i still am getting my new mounts

Pull it back out and check if the top piece is still there. Sometimes my top connection comes out. It could have been loose. With my experience with my Iat it never jerked or anything. My was off for awhile and just the check engine light came on. Also a got really crappy gas milage.

thanks for the suggestions guys, turns out it was a couple of things... my IAT sensor was messed up, my MAP hose line burst, and another sensor wire was f**ked, my tranny went into "cripple mode", all getting taken car of, thanks JBO
