car-part.com searches inventories of salvage yards all over the country. don't buy an engine from a dealership, it'll cost you more than it's worth. you are better off buying an engine with a warranty from a salvage yard OR pulling it all apart anyways.

forsale: 97 sunfire, green, 2dr, 5speed, salvage title, no bags, needs paint on front end, 2.2l ohv runs awsome, 123k miles, for parts or whole car, email me stroikly83@yahoo.com
But no one has bought one that can tell me roughly around what price range?
When i was pricing them they were around $650 - $750, depending on the mileage. that was local junkyards here in socal. i priced some where my family lives an they were $1200. depends where you live.
anywhere from $600 to $1000 for a good engine. hell you might as well pick up a running longblock and rebuild it. you're going to have to pull it apart anyways. and no offense, but you are stupid if you don't.

it's best to know what the noise was from when taking a motor that isn't in a car to hear it. that way a problem can be addressed much quicker when pulling it apart.

i payed 900$ for my 2k 2.4l with 12k miles on it from a junkyard. Subtract 100$ from that because i got a one year warrenty.
i wouldnt suggest the junkyard motors. Ive seen slot of people get screwed with those and have lots of problems. I got my motor from this place in Georgia. They ship it to you free. Mine with 30,000 was $1,600 with a warranty. Save back some money once you get it running though. depending on how long ago it ran you will probably have to take it in and have new valves seals put in. Let me know if you need that places number....
