Exhaust Set-Up

I did a search but didn't get answers to my question. I want to replace everything from the header to the muffler. I was thinking of a Pacesetter Header because through using the search function OBX had some fitment issues. My question is what follows the header? The downpipe or the collector? Or are they both one in the same? Next I want to purchase a Magnaflow Hi-Flow Cat. My question is does that clamp on to the the down pipe and/or the collector? From the cat I was just going to take it to a muffler shop and have them bend a piece of tubing and put a magnaflow muffler. Now does this all make sense? I know what goes on from the cat to the muffler but not sure on the header to the cat. Also what would the tubing size be? Just wanted to know what to expect when I purchase the parts. Also I have a 96 2.2

Thanks,

Mike

Well.... Pacesetter Header is a great idea. I personally believe they make the best ones. For the 2.2 anyway, the extra pipes that come with the header will take you all the way to the cat. So now you just slap the cat at the end of it.

Then just get a shop to bend some 2.25 piping from the cat to the muffler and you're done.

make damn sure that when you do this, you get yourself at least a 24 inch resonator (goes behind the cat, and a new cat. the partnumber for the cat is 94035, get it from www.justmagnaflow.com. trust me on this one

I have a similar exhaust project on the planning board, but I was going to remove the resonator. What benefit does one derive from keeping it, other than noise reduction and some additional back pressure?

good idea to ditch the stock resonator, but bad idea to not use a better one in its place. you can get resonators that flow straight through that dont provide any backpressure at all, but they will take some of the crappy buzzing and droning out of the exhaust note. it'll sound much better with one than without one. you could even add a second one for additional noise reduction....all depends on what you like.
