I searched this, but only came up with some W41 chip, which I don't know if its the same thing as I am talking about...soo
I have been exchanging a few emails with Manatapart and they said they could get me a chip for my car. I have a 95 5 spd with a 2.2. The guy quoted me about $250, and when I inquired what it is the chip actually does, he said "they will improve spark and fuel curves to optimize power ". He also said it was a plug and play deal.
So I was wondering if anyone has one of these on their 2.2, and if so, was it worth it? And was there a need for any other parts to make everything run smoothly, or was it, in fact, a simple plug and play for some free HP?
Thanks
its like the "Hypertec" chips for the 2nd gens........ adj. the fuel/spark a bit, and turns on the cooling fan sooner.....

I'd avoid mantapart.
You'll spend the money and they might get you your part without a problem.
BUT
they won't take care of you as a customer once they got your money. I have a stage III clutch that is jacked up and I email them frequently and I get the some lame excuse everytime. I sent them a documented "this is whats F'd up with your clutch" email and they are still "looking into it"..
BY the way, this was on December 13th of 2004. If you want any of the emails I'll damn sure send them to you. I'd do anything to take business away from them.
They only owe me about $1,400 or so in parts and crap because of there clutch.

If you want one for a 2.2 then you will only get it from Manta.
Will you gain anything from it? not likely.
Will you get any better answers from Manta About the chip? Not ever. If you ask into it more you'll just get attitude. There aren't going to be any dyno sheets.
They will contact a person/company that can program a chip. They will tell them to advance the timing a degree or 2 and lean the fuel a small amount. This will possibly gain a small amount of power.
It may take tons of pleading to actually get the part, too. Manta simply isn't that reliable.

OK....take it from someone who HAS the chip (me) i have the chip in my 95 cav (quad)
the HP gains arnt the best benefits of the chip...the HO chip will raise your redline to 7200...so yea, itll add somepower as long as yoiur engine will make it at that rpm...2nd it will ELIMINATE your speed govenor and iguess that makes you faster right? as far as the spark and fuel curve i believe that part was ment to match up with the HO engine it was designed to run it....be weary of this chip ive never seen it in a 2.2 but runs great in my 2.3 ho .....oh and by the way....took them 3 months to deliver that little chip after i paid for it...
but on the bright side it IS just plug and play
....hope i helped
or take it from someone who HAS one, too, but no longer uses it.
I dynoed 0 gains from it and netted no improvement in 1/4 mile times.
But Hey it does remove the speed limiter----- and thats most important.

on the Ho, all the chip you can find were within 1-2hp from one to the other. what you are really looking for is the caracteristics of the chip. IE the 7450rpm rev limiter of the W41 chip.
Chip dyno
You can see that's it's not worth it to buy a chip for the 2.2 unless you want to get rid of the limiter.
if you had a 3.1, FFP have the best chip.
