Help with car timing
Saturday, April 09, 2005 12:00 PM
Like the title says after getting my cams put in im positive that my timing is off. When the car is moving it feels fine but the idle is starting to bother me. Because of the Random cyl misfire code im getting and how bad my motor is shaking at idle im pretty sure my header is going to crack . I need to know if theres anyone in the New york, Newjersey, and maybe even Pa area who has done it before who could help me out. I tried searching for a write up on it but only found the timing for an ecotec and I've read my Haynes manual but im still at a lost at how to adjust it. I called my pontiac dealership to ask how much for them to do it and of course they started up with the whole "well its $100 dollars just to look at it" and im like well there no need for that cause im telling you what the problem is already so how much to redo the timing and the guys like. "where not touching the car before we look at it" and he has no clue how much redoing the timing would be. And i don't even know what is off, the actual individual exhaust or intake cam or the car was not put back to TDC when the chain was put on. I really don't know what to do.

Are these cams stage II because the random cyl misfire @!#$ happens to a lot of people.

How is the power being delivered, example: does it feel like you have no low end, but a really powerful top end? By know this, it can help tell if it is a tooth off.

it doesnt have to be, as long as the car was set to TDC and all of the links line up on the marks it doesnt matter where the chain is.
