Ecotec Swap..... SMART QUESTIONS !!!!!!!!
Sunday, March 13, 2005 9:27 PM
Okay I have a 2001 2.2 (2200) with the getrag tranny.

So far this is what I think I need for the ecotec swap I'm doing.
Can you guys/ girls add anything I'm missing. Thanks in advance for your help

2.2 Ecotec Motor with full mounts
New Clutch, Flywheel, to bolt up my getrag to the new eco
Wiring Harness, ecu
Full Dash Tack
I don't need the intake, or the exhaust.
That is it, as far as I know..............
Any small things I'm missing?

Your Input is greatly appriciated.

Thanks

Lee.

I'm pretty sure the tranny won't bolt up. I know there both getrags but i think the bolt pattern and maybe even the gearing is different. You will only need the upper engine mount, the lower and tranny mounts should be the same

I know somebody else has done this swap. Better get their advice, I haven't dealt with ECOs or 2200s or the Getrag either.

Okay well I know exactly what I need.
I just need to FIND OUT FOR SURE that the Getrag from my 2001 with a new clutch and flywheel will bolt up to the new ecotec.

Anyone 200% sure ?????
Thanks

Lee

you WILL need the intake and exhaust. the eco is more like the 2.4 the exhaust is on the back side of the motor near the firewall and intake is near the raditor... your 2200 is the opposite...

I have the eco exhaust and intake already thats what I was getting at.
I was told that it will bolt up directly.

Thats a bummer.

Thanks guys.

The tranny will not bolt up thats for sure, it has a different bellhousing than the 2.2l Now if you through a 3800 in there it will bolt right up You are either going to beed a whole new tranny or just swap the bell housing from and eco tranny onto the tranny you currently have. It would be just easier to swap the whole tranny IMO.

You dont need anything with the dash, you have it already since yours is a 01. You'll need

Engine, Engine Wiring Harness, Eco ECU, Eco Transmission, Upper Eco Mount, Either Aftermarket Intake, or Eco intake. exhaust manifold.

Right, coming from a guy that did it. 15,000% sure it will not bolt up. lol
Engine and the accesories with only the upper mount, manifolds, cooling hoses, fual lines, power steering hoses, whatever other hoses you can think of, flywheel, clutch, wiring harness, did you think you were gonna run the ECO on the OHV ECU?? lol
AC compressor, heater core lines.
I am pretty sure that is about it, like is was said yours is a 2001 so you don't need anything inside.
