no offense.. but a 2-wire extension kit? buy some speaker wire of about the same gauge and solder it in. its that simple.

that doesn't work.... Its a long story but I already tried that twice and both times the engine light came on and it ran to rich....I got ahold of pacesetter and they are sending the wires that should have came with my header

i added wirer to mine, and it through the cel code, and after i installed my HO manifold (i'm guessing unrelated to the problem) my light went off. my guess is, when i unplugged the battery to try and clear the code, it didn't clear because i didn't leave it unplugged long enough. of course when i did the manifold swap, i was lazy about it, and it took me a while, so it caused the battery to be out for a while. so i'm guessing that cleared the code. but it did work to extend the wire.

Casey,

Check your e-mail. I sent you the link for the extension kit that you are looking for. I was having the same exact problem. It's $25.00 for the extension, but it's worth it trust me. Just make sure to also purchase a new o2 sensor just in case (the OE type from Bosch). Bleh, just check your e-mail, I explained everything in that.

speaking of that i just got my header (pace setter) and havent even messed with it yet. I n the instructions on the O2 sensor it says that sometimes you will have to lenghten it, but i was wondering on a '99 2200 5 speed if you would have to lengthen it b/c i dont really want to mess wtih it ...

but the way RoNuS20
wanna shoot me that email too

thanks

i've used, used rear O2 for some of my customers with no cash in place of the Front and have had know problems I just shortend the harnness with sealable butt connectors. I see know reason you could not do the same thing.

... i am assuming the reason it throws a code, is becasue by extending the wires, the resistance is changing. Just by some top notch LOW resistance wire.... save yourself some money

cost you 3 bucks

Just post the link for everyone or please send me the link too. i have the same problem.

I tried extending mine when I installed my header. I did not get a CEL, but have cold start issue's. I know it is becaise of cutting the wires. You have to be really carefull, because you can through off the resistance. You can go into the harness and pull extra wire out. I would not recommend cutting the wires and if you do DO NOT USE BUTT CONNECTORS!!!!!! Soldier it.

Whoever said they got it from Casper's Electronics, that's the company that has the extension kit.

Here's my story.

I had the header installed, and the shop extended the pigtail on the stock O2 sensor and it threw up a CEL. Autozone scanner said it was P0130, I take it to Chevy, they charge me $50.00 and tell me that I can't extend the pigtail, that's all they did (RIPOFF!!!) You cannot just simply splice the wires and use connectors, well maybe you can, but the service technician at my local Chevy dealer said you cannot and that I would have to find an aftermarket O2 sensor with a longer pigtail.

The only one I found was the 4-wire Bosch Universal O2 sensor. I installed that, and it caused my engine to stall out at low speeds and lag when giving it gas. And the CEL light was still on! So I went back, and they didn't have the OEM one in stock so I ordered it on Autozones website.

I received it, same thing as stock one, with the short pigtail, so I spoke to a member on this forum (sorry if you read this, I don't remember who it was I spoke to) and he directed me to the Caspers Electronics website with the link. I purchased the 24" extension kit (they have it in 12", 24" and 30")

It's now installed, and not a single problem yet (crosses fingers)

Interesting. I do not when cuting and extending wires, you have to be very careful of resistance, thats why you do not use butt connectors, because it throws this off.

Got the same problem... no one has been able to give me a legit answer.. tried everything.. i have a 2.4 L 02 cav.... 4-2-1 header and full exhaust.... threw CEL as soon as i put the header in.. replaced both sensors... soldered the wires to make an extension.. nothing. i ran a P0133 code (slow response) bank 1 sensor 1
Went to caspers electronics, they said i could use a 4 wire sensor with a pigtail extension...
cant put a 4 wire sensor because the stock one is a 2 wire.
anyonw know the answer....?? would be greatly appreciated....

Try getting a new OE Type O2 sensor and get the extension. The link for the extension is in my previous post.

And when you replace the sensor, disconnect your battery for 15 minutes so the ECU can reset itself.

I'm guessing that extending it would also be necessary on an 03 Cavy 5-speed huh?

im pretty sure that rksport has "o2 simulators.....they are about $130u.s, but that's the last time anything needs to be done with that,,,,it's a little expensive, but more of a one shot deal...or so i think.anyway check em out their site............
