my 2007 cobalt LT coupe, no more sunfire

well i financed it only for 1 year for $1130 per month. I was going to get a ss but instead im going to start looking for a older muscle car, something with true american muscle. I took my car out last week and bottomed out and cracked the bottom of the front bumper and thats when i said forget about the car. That body kit sat way to low for me. Im already looking for modifications to this car. The ss they wanted like $1800/month for 1 year and i didnt want to pay that much just for a supercharged motor.

Well tonight i jsut purchased a cold air intake for my 2.2 ecotec engine in the new cobalt. Im going to look for a nice header too and catback exhaust. Prolly going to slam it and put 17s on it and just be done with the car then. What do you think about that.

Supercharge it yourself. And if you're going to drop it, then get coilovers.

Well im not sure what supercharger that will fit it. Is it the same ones that people put on the cavalier ecotec engine. Im sure the charger is the same but prolly the brackets and stuff arent. I did think about finding one for the cobalt engine or just even boost it since i got half a turbo kit that i had for my 2.2 sunfire that i traded in but i still have the parts in my closet.

There is an SS model without the S/C but with the 2.4 liter 173hp engine. Little cheaper. Not much though. I was going to consider this but I love my cavalier. it's been great. I guess I'm keeping it. I put all the stock intake on with the drop in filter I had from my 99 Z-24 and it seems to run better than it did with the modified intake...weird.

Hey im making 62k a year. My house payment is $1100/month but i have a roommate that gives me $400. So Im actually thinking of paying the car off in 8 months. I wont beable to save alot in my bank account but i would rather pay it off then get all the interest from it.

Remember i will have almost a brand new car once its paid off with only about 10k miles. It will sure be a nice feeling having a brand new car and no car payment.

Best way to go dood, pay it off asap if you got the money. @!#$ if I had the chance, I'd just pay the whole car off with cash right there, right then.

well i found a pacesetter header for it on ebay but it says you have to weld and make a peace for it. I wonder if a shop would do it for and how much they would charge. Anyone have ideas for company's in dallas that would do it with a full catback exhaust.

you're like...18 right? if you had the $ to do that right away i wouldn't do that

why? because you won't have a chance to build your credit up. Josh has a different circumstance i the sense
that I'm assuming he' A) older and B) has credit established

so what you would rather finance a car for 4 years and pay double for it. Like say you finance $15000, if you took 4 years to pay it off you could pay like $30000 after all the interest for the years. I myself would rather not pay interest so thats why i only took a one year loan. I plan to have it paid off within the next 7 months.

Either you have a warped view of financing, someone has been feeding you a mound of misinformation, or your finance example is greatly exaggerated as there is no conceivable way that a person can finance a $15,000 car and end up paying back ($15,000 car + $15,000 interest) $30,000, once the final payment is made, if allowed a 48 month pay off period. It would take really crappy credit and an astounding interest rate of 39.40% for 48 months at a monthly payment of $625.08 a month to even reach the figure you assumed in financing a car. I don't think banks or loan offices even go that high. At best with interest and modestly good credit, one would only be looking at $2,000 - $4,000 in interest on a car financed at $15,000 depending on the interest rate. I mean, I know what you're getting at and completely understand why you are paying off your car so early (I say do it if you got the cash, I'm doing the same thing with my Mustang @ $1,000 per month) just the example was bad.

As far as your car, I think it looks sharp. I'm liking the grey and black interior. I wished they would have made the 2.4 engine optional on the LT models but that's cool. I like your plans for mods, if I was in your position I would keep it basic and simple as well.

So what kind of muscle car are you looking for?

i'm buying everythin with cash or debit
i dont want to pay more money just so i have a good credit that i dont need in the first place

okay! you got me!

so can we see if you still have the same mind set when you try and get a new house or car

and they say " do you pay all your bills on time?"

you: oh well i dont have credit cards/etc...i pay it everythin cash...on time

bank: wtf? you want us to give you a $XXXX car/house with no credit history or score?

and idk if you've heard of a lil place called the IRS..but they will notice when you're buyin somethin

that has a bigger value than you're yearly salary

good luck with that tho!

Well usually the way it works is you get paid from a job that gives you the ability to afford a house or a car. I haven't seen many people buy something that their annual salary can't afford (not talking about people that get under the counter money).

And dood, If I said I would pay everything in cash, why the hell would I go to bank to loan money? Wasn't my point being that I don't want to pay off loans/payments.

want good credit? finance for four years through a credit union and pay it off in a year (given the time frames listed above).

...and hey, there is that school of thought that says if you can't pay for it (rather than having a bank pay for it, for example), then you shouldn't be buying it.

which route you take, be that cash up front or financing, depends on your personal needs and, to some extent, how you were raised and what you believe is "right". no sense arguing over it, though i think we can all agree that 39.4% is an insane interest rate!

Have you seen the turbo wagon?

13.90 @ 105.46mph
street tires
