Oil Leak

My 96 Sunfire 2.2L is losing a little about 1/4 of a quart every one to two weeks. It looks like the oil leak my be coming from the rear seal (oil all over the front of the tranny). How hard of a job is it to change the rear oil seal on a 96 Sunfire 2.2L? Are these cars prone to bad oil leaks?

try replacing the drain plug first. every time i had a leak in my 99 2.2 or my dads it was the drain plug.

I had the shop do this job on my 2.2. Many things involved! But yes, rear seal is very likely if your tranny is fouled as well.

Right around a grand$. Tranny drop involved to get to the seal, etc, etc. It would've hurt worse if I was plagued by nickel and dime repairs up to then. Seems I'm one of the rare ones that only has major mechanical go wrong few and far between. Also very reliable, so I didn't have too much to bitch about.
