Coolent out of valve cover gasket ?
Tuesday, December 13, 2005 3:28 PM
My sunfire 2.2 seems to be leaking coolant , after looking everywhere I can't find an obvious leak , but I did find a pool of coolant in the cylinder #3 spark plug spot where its sorta a deeper grove in the head and traced it to my valvecover ,

In all my driving I've only see oil leak out of a valve cover with any car I've seen leak .
Something wrong here ? I'm new to GM's and never seen this .

it was too cold out for me today to investigate , so I'm looking here for a few hints .

Head Gasket is going, keep an eye on your enging temp and coolant levels. Things could heat up and go bad real fast.

It's probably the hose the goes infront of the valve cover. The valve cover wouldn't leak straigh coolant. It would want to mix. Check the oil and see if it's still transparent. If it looks like a chocolate milkshake, then water is mixing with oil, and you have some serious problems.

Oil and coolant are clear , I've been driving neons , and chryslers forever so I know all about headgaskets .

This doesn't seem to be coming from the headgasket , cause it's above it where it pools up .

It sure seems to be the valvecover gasket .. but the leak only occurs when I tromp on the gas , and there is " pour marks " from the gasket that doesn't seem to be in great shape , but hell maybe its spraying from somewhere under pressure and just lands there ..

I'm hoping for a warmish day to go out as I can't stand the cold at all ..
