04 Very hard to steer after big snow
Saturday, December 10, 2005 6:52 PM
I was noticing a kind of almost rubbing sound coming from my car when i was turning for a few days and then here in MA we got about 14" of snow so my car was burried wheel deep. Anyhow, i had to cut the wheel back and fourth alot to get it out and now my steering is very very hard. I find it more difficult to take a right hand turn but its difficult to move the wheel in either direction. Anyone hear of this before or any ideas?

im thinking snow and ice are wedged in between the fender and the wheel, or inbetween the wheel and the rotor, id clean that out first.

I have cut the wheel in both directions as far as it could go and checked inside of there and I havent noticed anything. I have some aftermarket 5 star rims so I can see pretty good through the wheels.

Steering fluid level was slightly below the Add line so I filled it up, but that did absolutely nothing. I'm just going to bring it to the dealership tomorrow so they can fix it. I have 6k left on my factory warranty and I also have the GE 4 Star warranty so hopefully one of them will cover whatever this issue is.

Try kicking the snow from the wheel wells before you drive.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. Adam it was my power steering pump, dealership swapped it out for me. When I had the tow truck come pick it up to bring to the dealership the driver ended up breaking my oil pan so that got fixed too
