car odometer isn't working

the odometer isn't working. its adding miles like it should but i cant get it to light up. i did the other day then i stopped and shut off. dead fuse?
help please

No dont hit the dash. Check to see if it has power and ground. It is a rumor that hitting the dash may touch the loose wire back to ground or power, but in reality it just makes other wires looser.

smacking the dash works for me. it's a common problem in J's. to permanently fix it you have to resolder the connection on the cluster.

Yeah and beating on the dash is going to help it how? Why not spend the littel bit of time, remove th cluster, find the messed up wires if thats the case and fix it?

its not beating up the dash. all you have to do is hit the dash and it starts to work. if you feel like pulling apart the cluster and taking it all off than go ahead
