hope someone can help me with this so latly my car has been backfiring and trying to die everytime i push on the gas and i just noticed that oil was coming from the exhaust im not sure if this is norma l ive changed my spark plugs and boots possibly going to change the coil paks but thought id see what everyone thought on this my spark plugs were covered black when i pulled them out if that gives anymore idesas on what it could be

First off, try using periods!!!! Easier reading yields more answers. Also, year/make/model?? Nonetheless, my first guess is that you have a valve problem. Can be serious. Also, check your compression. Easier to do, and will give a better idea on what's going on.

hmm, oilin exhaust could be many BAD MOJO things i.e...head gasket, valve and other vavle related parts, rings

overallif u have oil in your exhaust your head will be coming off

does it do it when its warmed up or just cold?.. have u recently messed with ur plugs or anything are you sure everything is connected right which engine do u have??

Cracked piston can do it too.

Let us try something real simple first. I had a proble of backfireing black smoke coming out the exhause car wanted to die out. It was the tube from the MAP sensor to the intake manifold had worn out and had a hole in it. Replace the hose and everything was fine.

Black with oil or black with carbon?

sounds like a cam with a bad exhaust lobe.
