Hello all, I traded my '84 chevy swb pu for a '89 cavalier my main two questions right now are where can i find interior plastic pieces, also it has a new fuel pump but it's louder than the exhaust is their a good way to fix this? Thanks for any help in advance, I'm just happy i'm now getting 30mpg in vehicle and I'm still driving a chevy.

Well I have a little bad news for you. the 89 Cav is its own animal. It doesn't shair many parts with 90 and up and 88 and older are different too. My mom has one so I know how tough it can be finding things good luck.

All of the interior trim is the same from 89-94 ..
There are a couple variations in dash and door panels though between the Z24 models and Base model (which i assume you have)
I'm pretty sure the dash and doorpanels in Z24 is the same from 87-90.
In the base model they were basically the same from 82 until 90 also.
the 91-94 base and Z both share the same dash and door panels.
Also the older Sunbird Sedans have the same dash as the base cavy.
Your best bet is to go visit the junkyard and look for Jbodies.
All of the parts are interchangeble between any year of Jbody pre-95.

it's a Rally Sport, i don't know if that makes it special or if it's just a badge they charged more for! Probably the biggest issue is that loud fuel pump, it isn't always as loud as it sometimes get's it seems like you can hit a bump and it quietens one time and the next it gets loud again! The guy that owned it is a Chevy mechanic and he put it in his-self so i believe he re-placed it correctly..

I wish i could say that, I got a 89 z24 and not a single junkyard with in 100 miles has anything I need for the car, I took me 3 weeks and over 10 junk yards to just find the stock rear wing.

But I love to hear someone traded something in for a cavalier(THE WORLDS BEST CAR) my first car was a 87 cavi rs. I've been hooked on j-bodys ever since,

Concidering my circumstances it was the best trade i could've made, me and my wife are divorcing and i have to drive 45 min. one way to pick up my kids every weekend, i like trucks but it would've killed me on gas!

ok guys i goofed again, it's a freakin '98 model. I did a post in the performance area and got ripped for asking about a '89. Just wanted to correct that before somone saw it and said Dumba$$, which if i had've traded a '84 pu for a '89 Cavalier that would've been dumb.

Damn dyslexia strikes again! Well parts are a HELL of a lot easier to get for the
98 car.

Check the gas tank - make sure it's strapped down good. Fuel pump is in the tank.

it's a '98, i mentioned earlier in the post i typo'd it! My first car was an ugly '75 Nova but it had a 455 olds engine and would do donuts on dry pavement. lol This Cavalier is the weakest , rattlin'est machine i've ever owned, but i like the gas mileage!! lol
