I have a 1999 cav with 2.2l&auto. the user manual says I have to do a chassis grease every 10000km, and I try to do it myself, but where is the grease fitting? anyone knows?I find there is a fitting with cap in my rear wheel, is this the one? any picture shows how to do it?thx a lot
cavaliers are lubed for life, the only thing that will need lubing is the tie end rods, door hinges, and linkages (tranny, throttle, etc)
Can someone tell me how you can lube "the tie end rods" and what grease you use? I recall Cavalier (2002 model with 2.4 L) Z24's tie end rod is right behind the wheel (I think I can see it if the wheel opening is aligned correctly).

You use the recommended grease as per your manuel says from your car, and you use a pump action grease gun with a nozzle tip for Zerk fittings.
The pump and tip and grease costs about $20 USD from most auto stores, and they can even suggest what grease to use if your unsure.
And while the wheels are off, its a good time to check your brakes, and your CV boot.

According to the owner's manual, the recommended lube for the chassis is GM Part # 1237985 (NLGI#2, Category LB or GC-LB). Does this "chassis lube" include the lube job for the tie rod end?

you could take it to a place that changes oil and have it done, i do my own at work, and we only charge $10. In fact, when i changed my oil last, i had to replace the actual fitting, one was allowing grease to leak out of the tip, so i replaced both, and lubed them till they were fat and happy.
The rubber boots that seal these tie rods can be easily
ruptured....be sure to watch as they fill with grease....
pump carefully...
