Gas tank heat shield removal

Not sure if this in the right forum or not, but here goes. I need to replace a fuel pump on a 01 2.2l cavalier. I have done this on earlier models, the newer ones have a heat shield that needs to be removed before the tank can drop. It appears to be riveted in. Can I drill these out, or am I risking a spark too near the tank? Is there another way to do this that I am just not seeing. I appreciate your help.

Drop the two straps, and slide it down and out to the passenger side of the car. No need to remove the heat shield or exhaust.

I used an angle grinder to get one of the strap bolts off and no fire. I think you can drill into the shield with no problem.. but I'm pretty sure you can just slide the tank out to the passenger side.

thanks alot guys. had to take it to a guy with a lift and we used Lenko's method. If I didn't have the lift I would probably drill out the bolts though.
