Over the last few days, I've been having a problem with the Speedometer dropping to 0, and the miles will stop counting at that time. Today, the CEL came on, so I checked, and as suspected, it said VSS - low volt.

What are some of the things that will cause this? Is it just maybe the wires, the transaxle, the connector? The car is a 1998 2.4L with over 100,000 miles on it.

same basic thin happened with my rango, it was the sensor. started intermittently then became a problem over 2 days until i had a chance to pick up a new one. hell could have been going on for a while and my wife would not notice.

i don't know the price on one but probably wouldn't hurt to change it out if your connectors look fine and the wires test out fine if you can do it. bet it was easier on the rango though
