IAT sensor problems
Thursday, September 29, 2005 3:27 PM
I searched around but couldn't find a real answer I need so....I installed a cosmo intake yesterday on my 99z24. The iat sensor wouldnt fit into the rubber piece that came on the intake so I glued it in with a silicone type glue and I unhooked the negative side of my battery for like half an hour. I'm gettin a check engine lite and the ets off light is also on, i'm not sure what else to do, do I need a new sensor? Does driving around with it like this now hurt? I noticed the car shifts a lot harder now and I just dont wanna do any serious damage

Get the code scanned to make sure that really is your problem, could be something else coincidently. If it is that sensor, check the wires make sure they didn't get screwed up when you were messing with it, then if its still no good, get a new sensor.

ya the same thing happened to me ive replaced it 2 times already and its bad again. the sensor is very sensitive. as for the cel being on its going to stay on as long as that sensor is throwing that code. you can reset the battery all you want but as soon as you start it back up within 5 min or so it will return. i found autozone has the sensor the cheapest $9 here. the dealership wanted 80 something i told them to pretty much $%@% off lol. but like what ben said use an ob2 reader and see what code your throwing. good luck. a word of advice dont glue the sensor in drill a hole and get a rubber seal that fits the hole and then put the sensor in as it will work much better.

thanks for your input guys

Last nite I left the negative off my battery all nite to make sure the pcm got reset. This morning it had no check engine lite on my whole drive to work so hopefully everything will be fine now
