This happened quite some time ago, but I guess I should figure out the problem.

I was going to lower my drivers side window when there was a big KER-CHLUNK.

The window lowers fine, but it will only go up like an inch, then you have to wait a minute or two, then another inch, etc. etc.

I pulled the door apart and it doesn't look like it has come of the tacks or anything.....

Ideas?

all four of my windows have had this problem at one time or another. right now its the drivers's rear. while it was under warranty i was taking it to the dealership and they always replaced the motor. the window motors are very well known for going out. every month or so theres a new post about it.

most the time its the motor...its also been the switch itself on my car twice. but the noise suggests probably the motor seized up or something.

you can get the motor from the dealership but it'll probably cost a lot. i know you can get a universal motor kit at auto parts stores for like 40 bucks. or try a junk yard and see if you can find a cavy/sunfire with power windows. that'd probably be your cheapest bet.

just replaced my drivers side motor... huge pain in the ass, I would take it somewhere and get it done. You have to drill out all the rivets, I then picked up a new motor from autozone, and had to attach it with nuts and bolts, it is doable, but it isn't very fun, took me about 2 hours and about 6 cuts on my hands from the sheet metal :*( To make sure it is the motor though, use a multimeter on the harness that hooks up to the motor and see if you are getting a solid 12V there, if you are then its the motor
