Labour Time for Alternator

How long did it take you guys to replace the Alternator on your 2.4L's?

Was it a difficult job?

I am strapped for time and am considering taking it to a mechanic... just want to get some input before I do.

Thanks,

You gotta remove the intake, t.b., intake manifold just to get to the alternator.

You don't have to remove the passenger side wheel nor the cover, everything is done by the top.

I just replaced it and take about 3 hours but also cleaned the throttle body, the intake manifold, changed spark plugs and purged the clutch. also cleaned all the motor.

It is easy but need calm and various size plugs to reach and remove bolts from the intake manifold..

you dont need to remove the intake manifold

and if it takes more than 1 hour someone had to much beer

We noticed that last night.

It looked like we could do it without removing the intake manifold, but for convience sake we removed it anyways.

Now as for jacking up the car... that was unnecessary.

removing the intake does make it easier , but its unnecessary

unless you run a larger cable from the alt to the starter or battery
