Whenever i put the a/c on..i notice a slight decrease in power...could this be a battery issue?.

98 pont sunfire 2.2 manual trans...

i notice that 2nd has less power when the a/c is on..

you are placing more load on the engine with the a/c on. When the a/c is off your belt spins with the normal engine load. when the a/c is on a clutch mechanism locks up and gets driven by the engine via the serpentine belt. It is just one more thing that the engine has to spin. my 2.4 does the same thing, its normal.
