I just got my car back from the body shop and now have a rough idle motor shakes and have a lil bit of black smoke while its running. On start up it puffs more black smoke.
98 Z24 2.4L

What could cause this?

i've had the same thing, rough idle, black smoke pours out when i take off, i bought some octane booster, the kind that's in a 4 pack it also has Dale Jr's outslaw insignia on the side, autozone has it, but so far it's cleared up the roguh idle, and there's a very little carbon on my exhaust pipe, so try that out. It may not be a complete fix but it sure will help clear out the foulness.

The black smoke means the motor is running rich.
The causes for this are extensive on a computer controlled car, but you should have a code somewhere to better point you to the cause of it.

I'm going to go out on a limb and assume it's possible that the smoke is blue. If so, you may be in need of piston rings.

I hope its nothing major i baby that damn car like no other.
Today i went and got new plug Bosch platinum 4 and the front 02 sensor.
How hard is the sensor to install?

And also is there anyway i can get codes read to direct me in the right direction?
