ABS & Brake Light Problem *Help*
Thursday, June 02, 2005 6:37 AM
I always hate having to post in this forum

Anyways, for reference, I have an auto 98' Z24.

My problem is my ABS and Brake light keep coming on. It'll pop up sporadically when I start the car and will go away most of the time if I turn off the car and turn it back on. Yes, I did check to see if my e-brake was down

Any ideas what might be causing this and how do I fix it?

Thanks!!!

well i dont know if you really wanna hear this from me but it sounds like the same exact thing my wifes car is doing. I think it is a speed sensor problem. The speed sensor is located in the cent of the rotor/hub assembly and is just a small part. Easy fix if you just get it at the junk yard. the hard part is finding out which one is bad. we know which one it is on my wifes car just because we took it to a shop a long time ago and they told us that. But that is just my $.o2. Take it or leave it.

sounds like what my car did for awhile... turns out it was the wheel speed sensor harness, it was like $35.69 for the harness... pretty cheap fix for a @!#$ annoying problem... anywhos just something to look into...

Another question on this subject.

We just got back from a 12 hour round trip excursion where we had some governor activating stints on the interstate. If we could not turn this into a lecture on speed of driving it would be appreciated. But on to the problem.

I was cleaning the car, went to move it, and now the ABS light stays on, the brake fluid level looks a little low, going to add some more tomorrow but I didn't know if there was anything else that I could check without taking it to a mechanic.

Thanks, and btw, I'll pass any complaining about the driving on to the wife. I was riding shotgun when the afore mentioned things happened.
