Jingleing sound, like a thin metal plate is.......

Jingleing sound, sounds like a thin metal plate is loosely spinning with the engine,

What is this sound? my mounts are tight, tranny is tight, serpentine belt and everythign it connects to seems good.. brakes are good.

My step dad says it could be the cat, I know its time to replace the cat I am almost to 110k miles..

do cats make jingleing sounds like that when they get clogged??!? any ideas?

Do you have AC? if so it's your AC unit .

turn the a/c on...if the noise goes away then its the ac......the clutch and hub is servicable
what happenes is the ac clutch becomes weak and then starts to hit the hub.....causing the clanging noise

Doesnt matter if the AC is on or not.

It does sound more like its under the car, is there just one bolt holding on the heat sheild? I will be getting under there later for a closer look.

yeh i have that exact problem.. i had my console off n it sounds like its directly in the cat area underneath the shifter...
ac has nothing to do with this sound...... in fact the ac makes a different clinky sound.
this is like a thin piece of metal making a ting ting *drive me nuts* sound.
its definitly the cat.. i hadn't taken the time to fix mine but its under the shifter location which the only thing under it.. is bingo.. CAT maybe give it some milk n it'll start purrin..lololol j/k
