Ok, putting the white convertible back to stock... I've come across a problem with the rear drums. I realized that I've never actually replaced the rear brakes on a J-car before... only taken them off
Now I've got to a point where there's this metal hook... according to the GM service manual it goes between the e-brake adjustment arm and the pin... but I can't seem to figure out how it sits.... stupid brakes!! (Another reason why I hate drum brakes... so many parts!!!)
If this rings a bell... or someone has a pic of drum brakes that are actually together.. that'd be awesome
otherwise I'll take a pic of it tonight once I get home and start working on it again.
Stupid brakes!! Gah..

whenever i always change drum shoes, no matter what car, i always do one side at a time so i have the other side as reference.
let me know and i can go out and get a pic of my rear drums if you would like
Well... you see.. I had the Baer rear disc conversion on there... so I don't have a complete side to refer to anymore
That said... I suppose I do have my other car to compare to... I guess I could look at it

ahh, ok
i was kinda confused on what you were doing exactly. But if you have another cavalier or sunfire to look at, thats your best bet
john, does teh piece actually loook like a hook? is it gold in colour? If it is that is the Eb brake cable "puller" i like to call it. That hook slips inbetween an opened rectangle on that end of the E brake cable. That's the best i can describe it. Take a look at the end of the E brake cable and u will see this sort of connector, when u turn the connector a little it is opened inside, that's where the hook is. Email me john, if u need more help.

It's got a hook.. but it's not that piece of metal that attaches to the secondary shoe.. it's a double-ended hook shaped piece of thick wire... effectively....
The hook on the one end looks like it's the same size as the primary shoe's hold down spring.. which makes me think it hooks on there, then to the bottom of the e-brake "puller" arm...
Pain in the ARSE!!

The spring that goes between the shoe and the e-brake arm?
Or... the square type spring?
My cardomain
Ok, well I have a picture of the newer style of brakes off my 04'. These are the ones that anchor the shoes at the bottom.

Ok, it was the metal arm that goes from the ebrake adjuster lever to the top spring peg... what a pain in the arse!!
It's all together now... I took off one of the wheels on the red vert to compare... now I have stock brakes, stock suspension, stock wheels, and stock electrical in the white vert... now the interior swap begins and soon it shall be sold!!!
Sigh.... what a waste of time....
