this is a long story but I'll tell it anyways...about 4 months ago I got into an accident with my Sunfire I hit a dog and broke my bumper on the passenger side mostly exposing the Computer ,horn, and EVAP canister well the evap canister was pretty much shot to hell so my dad removed it ,
about 2 months later me and a friend replaced the Water pump and after all was said and done we took it out for a test run..well it heated up pretty fast before getting it home ..we tried bleeding it to putting on a new thermostat, and then my friend thinks he can start it by pushing in the gas pedal before turning the key...nope all he did was flood it then it back fired a few times then quite..we finally took it to a shop..turns out the head gasket needed replacing and the head was warped..so about a month later we get the car back and it runs..but it runs like @!#$..it shoots out carbon, it still backfires ,and now it has a gassy smell in the oil ...the injectors are fine as far as I can tell..I dont know I"m just stumped..please help..

Hit 200 NA it broke once, Hit 213 it broke again,
Hitting 300 NA is further away than I thought.

Honestly, I'd take it back to the shop where you went to have it serviced and ask them what is up. You pay good money to have something fixed, and it should be.

You need the evap canister man. You cannot just take that out. The computer will throw a fit and act all pissed off.

any time the head gasket is replaced you need to change the oil afterwards to remove what has leaked by with the problem gasket/head on..i had a problem wtih a jetta that the head gasket went and i changed it and the oil still smelled like gas and coolant until i changed it and the filter...

and holding the gas pedal down while cranking will not flood the engine. When you do that its a signal for the PCM to go into "clear flood mode". Its designed that way so if you flood your engine, you then hold the pedal down and it leans out the a/f ration to 20:1 or something like that with hopes of starting a flooded engine.
