So I recently replaced the ignition lock cylinder on my 2004 Chevy cavalier, after replacing it my security theft light came on and I figured no big deal since the switch came with instructions on how to reprogram the new pass lock sensor. Well I followed the instruction's as follows several times and the security theft light still will not go away so I'm left with a car that will no longer start (it sounds like It wants to start, it cranks but sounds as if its not getting enough gas) these are the steps I followed that came with the instructions:
a. Turn ignition on without starting engine
b. Attempt to start engine and release key.
c. Leave key in on position until security light is no longer flashing (takes about 10 mins)
d. Turn ignition off and wait six seconds
e. Repeat steps a and b two more times
f. Start engine (it should start at this point but it doesn't)
Any suggestions / input on what I may be doing wrong? Should I return the lock cylinder and try getting a new one?
