My 87 Cimarron 2.8 has a very stiff gas pedal. I don't remember either of my other two having this problem. Very hard to drive smoothly because you practically have to stop it to get it to go. I have tried working the pedal back and forth a bit, which doesn't help. Have tried WD40 the pedal and under the hood. Anyone else fixed this problem? Do I just need to replace the cable?

replace the cable, and it should be ok.
