p0455.............blech

Well I have this code showing up here and there.

I changed the gas cap last Wednesday but the code came back today....so im assuming the cap did not fix the issue.

What is the best course of action on this? I Im mechanically incline so I can do most things myself.

It is unfortunately something I cannot ignore since we do emissions testing here.

Could a bad fuel filter cause any issues??

Check the harness at the vent sol. Near the tank

It could possibly could be the vent valve itself. When I had this code on my car that's what I ended up replacing to get rid of the code.

^How did you come up with it being bad? Just luck or is there a way to test it?

I go to an automotive college, so I had access to a smoke machine and I used that to test the evap system for leaks. The valve had to be closed for the test so the evap system would be sealed shut, so I closed it with a scan tool, and put smoke in the evap system. If the vent valve is good, no smoke would come out of it. If it's bad, smoke will come out of it (which was what happened when I did the test). That's how I found out mine was bad.

You kinda need this. But it is very common for the harness to break by the valve. Both are very common issues.
