I've read the DIY topic on changing the resistor. Mine only works on the 3rd and 4th speed settings. The resistor was already changed two years ago and now it needs to be changed again. No where on the DIY write up mentions exactly where a person such as myself with limited car maintenance experience could even start to locate the resistor. I know it's under the front passenger footwell but could someone pinpoint where exactly? I know I may need to cut or pry the padding or sound insulator. Could someone indicate if it's on the left side or the right side or the middle of the passenger footwell. I'd like to get this fixed because the functioning speed setting are high and loud and is making me crazy.
Thanks

Basically its a pretty easy change out, I did mine in the dead of winter -40 temps. I just removed the passenger seat, Pulled the carpet back. Made sure I enough small sockets and extension's to remove the real pain upper bolt. once you got the heater fan out of the way, Just use a razor blade and cut the rubber matting away, the second bolt on the resister should be able to again access.
Good Luck.
disconnect the negative on battery
It's under the dash passenger side, in my car you had to remove the blower first to get at it (3 bolts metric-8? then unplug it) then its two bolts on the resistor, its a pain to get the back bolt out I used an open end wrench on a angle.
You will need a universal joint and extension with ratchet and socket for the blower motor
