Engine Problems - '98 Cav - 2.2

I have, sitting in my drive, a '98 cavalier. The problem I'm having, is that when I try to start it, there is coolant shooting up through one of the head bolts. i have been told that it could be a cracked head, a cracked block, or just a blown head gasket. I was wondering, could anyone help me out to identify more precisely what the problem is?

it shouldn't be. What actually happened, is on a move from Ohio to OK, it started getting rather warm. turned on the heater, and pulled into a truck stop and it went back down. got a ways up the road, and it started doing it again. This time, i was fortunate enough to come up on a gas station, where i was able to put some water on it to cool it down. After this, it was fine for quite a while. on m way to work this past september, it started happening atgain, but this time when i turned on the heater, it wouldn't cool down. as i was pulling into work, all of a sudden it was smoking like a freight train, and that's when it wouldn't start again. At first, I thought that it was the head gasket, but then one of the technicians said that it was something that he hadn't seen before. after looking at it for a little bit, he said that it looked like it was either a cracked head, or a cracked block. later that month, i got transferred to a different store. yesterday, i was talking with one of the techs, and he said that it sounded like it was a cracked head. today, i was talking with one of the alignment techs, and he told me that from what it sounds like, it was either a cracked head or just a head gasket. so sright now, i really don't know what to check for first
