Thought it was strut mounts??

Hello ppl. Got a rattling/bumping noise in the rear. First thing came to mind was just replace the rear strut mounts. Strut and springs are all good, checked that out. Now I bought this 97Z back in 08 and I just use her as a winter beater. I haven't changed anything, she's not lowered or any mods. So I changed the rear strut mounts, they were wore pretty good. So I said great I guess that was my problem, so I take her outta the garage and takes her for a run and the noises are still there. Seems to me they are WORST LOL. Another thing is I found this loud rattle/clunking before I changed the rear strut mounts and found once I was driving for awhile the sound would almost disappear. But anyways anyone ever had this problem?? And if so how did you fix it plus what else should I change. Thanks for your time.

Two things come to mind:

1-Are your struts themselves bad? When you go over a bump does it make sort of a 'bouncing' knock?
2-The plastic crush guard under your rear bumper cover could be loose (this was my case)

Could be the struts themselves. I've known some struts to rattle and such, even though they are still good.

Check the bushings that hold the assembly to the car also.
