the fuel pump relay is stuck in the fuse box-power distribution block. How to you fully out that blue plastic clip that keeps in all the fuses. I can only get it out half way. I'm assuming all the fuses are locked till I get this plastic rail out.
This fuse is good, I don't want to accidentally break it.
I'm changing my fuel filter on 2000 sunfire 2.2.
There should be no clip holing anything in. All you should have to do is pull it out. If its stuck in there, that part of the fuse block might be melted to it. But for the relays sometimes you have to give it a good tug because sometimes they do corrode in the housings, but a good hard tug should pop it out. If anything, a pair of channel locks, and some light tugging should pull it out. Other then that, you may have a underlying problem as to why it wont come out. Goodluck.
dont worry about draining the fuel, just man up and smell like gas for a while, and change the filter. only about 3/4 of a cup will leak out. no biggie.
The relay can be tight... but just needs a good pull straight upwards.
If you pull the blue clips out... the wiring can all fall out. Bad. Though it's not likely to "fall" out... it needs some force... but you don't want it out, trust me. It's a mess to fix.
I got the relay out. I used a Phillips to pry it off. I did pull out the blue clip then put it back in, lined it up.
