the car is a 1997 z24, 2.4 auto. the car runs fine most of the time. but it starts to cut out & then stall when it has been running for a while. i replaced the fuel filter. the auto store by me said it might be a power issue and about 2 weeks later the alternator went so it & the battery were replaced. the stalling was gone for about 3-4 weeks and then it happened again. when it stalls i turn the key off & then the car will start & run for a few min but the trans seems to slip into gear after it restarts. the trans may be my fault because it always happens in traffic so i am in a hurry to get it going. just driving short trips it's ok. don't have any other ideas but to replace the fuel pump. does any one have any idea what it could be?

I doubt it's the fuel pump...pumps usually either work or they don't, no back and forth. Do you get a check engine light at all, and if so, have you had the code(s) read? That's where I would start.
