i have been looking for the alarm module for a while because its caused my dome lights not to work and my buzzer for the car i have looked by the abs computer its not there i have a 2.2 two door sunfire 97 help
how are you sure of that ? i bet its just a fuse.. your alarm isnt even hooked up to your domelights.. and the alarm module is located under the carpet on the driver side, inside your trunk. everything you just said, sounds like you been misinformed to the 2nd power haha
According to my '99 service manual, there is a Multifuction Alarm Module that deals with various warnings (like key in ignition sound, seat belt sound, etc.) and it does integrate with the dome lights somehow, but I don't have the manual with me at the moment. It doesn't have anything to do with the theft system or any other type of normal alarm you'd expect. If my memory serves me (it often doesn't), the manual says it's located under the dash (glove compartment) on the passenger side. If nobody else has better knowledge, I'll take a look at the manual after I get home and post some update. I think it's on some fused circuit and if the dome lights work, it's getting power. I won't say anything more (like, keep guessing) until I can verify it. - Mark
all the fuses are good i looked and tested them and all my sound is dead do to the fact the seat belt wire was grounded out i think but the module i missing from the driver side unless it up more in the dash past the steering column but let me know thanks
butthe wiring diagram in my manul shows a muti fuction alarm mod torun the buzzer and dome light but again i dontknowwhereit is
but the wiring diagram in my manual shows a multi function alarm mod to run the buzzer and dome light but again i dont know where it is
you know what i think your right... i do believe i saw one on my teal cav and red vert at one point... a small black box i believe ..
but on my sunfire i cant find it and i dont know what it would look like
Just checked the manual. It says the module is on the "right front of the passenger compartment." In the picture it looks like a rectangular piece, maybe 6" by 8" , with a big connector on one end and a smaller one on the side, bolted to the cowling next to or in front of where the glove compartment is on the passenger side. You have to remove the insulator panel from under the dash before you can reach it. It apparently deals with all the audible warnings (probably has the speaker in it) and dimming of the interior lights. Three different fuses feed into it: 1.ALARM, 2. INT LAMP, 3. INST LPS.
take your top dash pad off and then pull the fuse for your airbags. then pull your passenger air bag out. you will find it there. easy as pie to get to. but i didnt know it had anything to do with the alarm???
thank i will look there and let you know
thanks again guys i change the module and everythings works thanks if you didn't tell me where it is still be looking thank you
