has anyone noticed a drop in acceleration after changing oil? this past week i realized that i had gone 7k over my change date and when i changed it, my car wasn't reving nor accelerating near as fast as it was. my car wont even bark into second anymore. i noticed it before but never attributed it to the oil change. anyone else notice this?

jesus, hand over your title and car to someone who will take care of it. 7k over? i mean come on man, i've went 500 over MAX and that was 1 time only and it's cause my digital odometer light went out and i couldn't see anything.

Odds are the oil was pretty nasty, and the engine might hate you for a little while. I've seen a few examples where fresh oil actually confuses things, and the car runs poorly for a few days while is figures out what's going on.

try tightening your horsepower instead of loosing it

MMMMMMMMMM sludge mmmmmmmmmm.

Why did you change the oil? You already had it in there for atleast 10K miles. Just leave it and wait for the engine to blow.

Just for some humor in this thread, did you change the oil yourself? If so, go strait to the dealership and have it done right.

thanks to all who actually answered my question or tried to. geeky you were right my engine is back to normal it just took a day or two, and a little seafoam. and to everyone else, yeah i know it was irresponsible of me, but I'm in college, and i have a 24,000 dollar tuition to worry about. with no job, changing my oil wasn't the first thing on my to do list

not trying to jack your thread or anything... but can you change your oil to much?... like if i did it ever 3000kms in stead of 5000kms would that hurt it?... id assume not but just wondering

EYEOPNR - It wont hurt at all. Well just maybe your wallet in the long run.

Tim - $20 for an oil change or $400+ for a new engine. Which is cheaper???

^^^^ X 1,000,000,000

budget is no excuse for not changing your oil. you also said that you had JUST realized that you were 7000 miles over .
if thats the case then you need to get yourself a bicycle and sell the car

Im 20 miles over and its eating my soul. But I cant change the oil till tomorrow, which means another 75 miles or so over.

I have all the stuff, just not the time. I WONT take it in to get done either.

Good to hear its still running right. Now get your maintenance schedule in order!

just out of curiosity did you just pour the seafoam into your oil and now everything is fine or did you actually use it correctly?
