Yes, the transmission shop I went to quoted me with the following:
Flywheel (STD TRANS) - R&R - $374.42
Clutch SET - $821.60
SuRFACE FLYWHEEL - $58.33
------------------------------
Total: $1,340.44
They told me its because my clutch for the engine I have (2.2L) comes with the internal slave cylinder. However, the one I found online (
http://www.clutchcityonline.com/products/04-210.shtml ) also comes with it and only costs $259.
Now I understand paying someone for their time and labor, I really do. However, I'm wondering if the price of the part is excessively inflated considering I can get it for less than half of what I was quoted at. Also, I'm wondering if this is something I could do myself. (I have the time and a decent set of tools as well as the book for my car). Mainly I'm wondering about the part price though because they did offer to cover their work (so I might just buy the part online if its good and let them install it).
I'd wonder why they are charging you for a flywheel and then also trying to charge you for a resurface. Shadiness right there.
www.gravanatuning.com for Clutches and FW, the SPEC clutches come with the bearing and the FW will not need to be surfaced.
Keep in mind the book time on a job like that is in the 6-8 hours for install. So depending on the labor rates that could be a chunk of the money. I had limited knowledge on doing a job like that, but successfully completed it in a weekend with little help.
Your post was hard to read while I was staring at your car.... but I understand now.

They told me it might be even more depending on how much else needed to be done (he said if they had to grind it down it would cost more... why the hell would I want them "grinding" a new part???)
Okay, I looked on Gravana and I like the SPEC SC891 (Im making minor changes to the car, so it seems to suit best). The only thing I'm noticing wrong however is that they told me I would need to get the internal slave cylinder as well. Is that guaranteed (and thus something I need to find as well), or is it something reusable?

The slave cylinder and throw out bearing are the same thing, just different ways to say it. It comes with the SPEC clutches. Basically the SPEC comes with the same things as the Exedy in your link above.

SPEC Clutches come with a new slave cylinder. You don't HAVE to replace it, but if your taking everything apart you might as well while there in there. If your unsure give Jim(at gravana) a call, or send him an email. Aaron(bought my flywheel and clutch from him) at turbotech also responds very quickly. But I'm fairly confident they all come with one, its even in the picture.
If I were you I'd do the clutch and flywheel at the same time. If you lived anywhere near me I'd say bring it over. We'll have the engine out trans off, and new stuff on in a day.
However if thats both the labor and parts cost I'd consider it to be about right. Unless you lived near squirrel, he's able to do one in just a few hours if you let him cut part of your subframe.

Karo or aaron? People or shops? Being located in Oklahoma, not alot of people on the forums live around here :/
I've noticed that for the getrag transmissions, the clutch costs more oem than an aftermarket does.

No flywheel work is called for....
Ballpark for clutch plate, throwout bearing, hydraulic cylinder, pressure plate should be around $400.00.
