Car broke down, wont start

hey guys, i was driving down the highway at about 110 kph, just cruising along and then the rpms dropped a couple times, so i put it in neutral, shut it off, and rolled over to the side. it wont start now. scanned with a obdII reader and it said PO171 system running lean(bank 1). so i figured it could be a the MAF sensor, O2 sensor, cat, or anything in the fuel system. I checked the MAF sensor and it was clean. Any ideas?it was seemingly running 100% then just screwed up. any help is extremely appreciated!cheers!

My car used to die while I was driving it. Replacing the crankshaft position sensor fixed it.

well it didnt necessarily just shut off... the rpms dropped a few times then is hut it off and rolled to the side of the road. its at the mechanic now, i wanted nothing to do with it. the little module thing on that plastic cover that says ecotec, there was no current going through it at all. so hes trying to find another used 1 that works, and he said theres always the possibility that that could have fried the fuel pump..
